Host Anna Wintour stringently enforced a no selfie rule and censored the use of social media at the Met Gala this year. But not all celebs who were there really followed Vogue editor-in-chief’s photo sharing restrictions.
Madonna topped the pack of A-listers including Justin Bieber, Kerry Washington and well known designers Donatella Versace and Stella McCartney all shared lovely moments from inside the benefit party for their Instagram pages.
Madonna, the Rebel Heart singer, now 56, was joined by fellow sirens Lady Gaga and Katy Perry for the ultimate diva selfie. The queen of pop captioned the snap: “Girls night out… Kissing the Ring… Finally! #metball,”
At the nearby table, the Scandal star Kerry uploaded not one, but 2 selfies with her well known buddies. The 38 year old actor cozied up to Empire creator Lee Daniels as well as Taraji P. Henson, the show’s leading lady, and Oscar winning rapper Common. She also got another selfie with singer Alicia Keys.
A leading website reported that all the attendees at this year’s Gala got a notice upon arrival that the use of phones for photography purposes and social mediums is prohibited throughout the whole event. The ban, no doubt, was a bit controversial, but it came from the evening’s host Anna Wintour, the self-confessed selfie hater.
There were also reports that Relativity Studios and Vogue are filming at the whole event for a docu-feature on the night’s celebrated theme China: Through the Looking Glass.
